On-Site Prescription Filling

Filling Prescriptions

TRICARE offers several convenient ways for you to have prescriptions filled depending on your family’s specific needs.  You can have prescriptions filled at any of these pharmacies, based on your specific situation, and you can use more than one option at a time.

While each option is available worldwide, some may be limited outside of the United States.  So we can give you the most accurate information, please enter your profile now.

  • Military Pharmacy:  Least expensive option with no out-of-pocket costs
  • Home Delivery:  Safe, convenient and the most cost-effective option when a military pharmacy is not available.
  • Network Pharmacy:  Fast and convenient…more than 57,000 network pharmacies in the United States and U.S. Territories
  • Non-Network Pharmacy:  Most expensive option

To have a prescription filled, you’ll need a written prescription and a valid uniformed services identification card. All prescriptions filled through at military pharmacies, via home delivery or at retail network pharmacies are checked against your TRICARE prescription history for potential drug interactions.

Enrolled in the US Family Health Plan?

Remember, you will fill prescriptions through your US Family Health Plan’s pharmacies, either onsite, network or mail-order, depending on what pharmacy options are available with your plan.  You will not access military treatment facility pharmacies or TRICARE’s other pharmacy options. Did you know?

Through an automated tool, the Pharmacy Data Transaction Service reviews your new prescriptions against all previous prescriptions filled through the military treatment facility, network and mail order pharmacy options, reducing the likelihood of adverse drug to drug interactions and duplicate treatments.

Do you have a family member who is also a provider?

Providers can’t write prescriptions of any kind (controlled or non-controlled) for family members.
