Julia Neilan-Keaton, LPC-MHSP is a caring and compassionate therapist that has been working in the mental health field since 2005. Before coming to Cookeville Medical Clinic, she was employed at HCA Mountain Star Division where she assessed psychiatric patients that presented to the ER in a psychiatric emergency or who were admitted to a medical floor after a suicide attempt.
Julia earned her BA in psychology and her MS in mental health counseling at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Julia uses person centered therapy, CBT, DBT, art therapy, trauma focused yoga and EMDR in her counseling.
Throughout her career, Julia has worked in many different settings including mobile crisis, two inpatient hospitals, community mental health, an ER doing level of care assessment, a behavioral health call center doing level of care assessments and a behavioral health call center finding inpatient psychiatric beds for patients.
You will find that Julia believes in meeting the patient where they are, that every patient has the capacity within themselves to heal, that every patient deserves unconditional positive regard and that every patient has the right to their autonomy to make decisions about their care.
In her spare time, Julia enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, coloring, making projects on her Cricut, gardening and watching TV.
